This Friday we’ve got our usual Friday Night Magic! Come in with your standard deck and play! This event is growing and growing! See how other players are using the new Mirrodin Besieged cards in their decks. Entry is still only $5.00! We begin around 6:00 pm.

Also this Saturday at 6:00 pm, we will have our regular Magic the Gathering Saturday Night Booster Draft. We will be using the new Mirrodin Besieged boosters! Only $15.00 for this event, but that covers all your boosters and prizes!

On Sunday, February 27th, Jim from Z-Man Games will be coming in to demo the new game Luna! If time permits, he will also be doing demos of Pandemic. Last time he came in and we played Factory Fun, and as the game says, it was fun! So come on in to check out this new game!

The Dead Gamers Society will be coming back in March to run their regular games! More details to come!

The new session of Dungeons & Dragons Encounters has begun! This time we’ve got Keep on the Borderlands! Encounters is run every Wednesday night at 6:00 pm! Come on in and play!

In a small field, just outside of a sleepy town in 1940′s middle America, Martian Saucers hover in the night sky. Having chosen their first target, a large group of humans gathered around a traveling carnival on the outskirts of town, a legion of Martians march to war. But not all the Humans are defenseless. As the crowds flee in terror and are vaporized by the saucer’s death rays, one brave group of circus performers step forward to defend their planet – Earth’s first line of defense! This will be their greatest performance…and maybe their last. Invasion from Outer Space is a board game from the people who brought you Last Night on Earth. It uses the same mechanic as Last Night on Earth, so both games are compatible. Joe Sosta will be coming in to demo these games on November 21st! Come on in and join the fun. Learn to play. New players are welcome! **Please note, the date has changed from the 14th to the 21st.

The Dead Gamers Society will be coming in this Saturday (November 20th) to run their monthly Vampire game! Become a blood-sucker in the city of angels. The 11th of December will also see the Dead Gamers Society come in and run their World of Darkness London Fog game! New and experienced players are welcome. Use one of the pre-generated characters available or bring your own Victorian-era beginning level character.

As we get closer to the holidays, Dicehouse Games usually has a charity event, consisting of games to be played with an entry fee plus an auction. Of course, all proceeds will be going to a certain charity. So we’ve made the decision to go with Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) for this year’s charity. Tuan will be running a Magic the Gathering Standard Tournament on Saturday at 1:00 pm. I will be running some sort of a Savage Worlds RPG adventure on Sunday, probably at 1:00 pm. We are looking for other volunteers to run games as well. If you would like to run a game, we ask that you be able to collect a $5.00 entry fee from all of the players. Also, if you would like to add any in-game bonuses, that would be great. For example, in the Savage Worlds game I will be running, if anyone wants to make a re-roll of the dice, they can do so for a dollar! We will also be having our usual auction at the end of the event on Sunday. So far, we’ve got Privateer Press sending us a signed copy of the Hordes MKII rulebook and signed posters! Some of the other game companies who have said they will contribute to us is Mayfair Games, ToyVault, Chaosium, and Cubicle Seven. Possibly even Wizards of the Coast will be sending some stuff our way. So when is this shindig going to happen? December 18th and 19th! I know it’s the weekend before Christmas, but do you really want to be out there shopping? And maybe you can win a game at the auction and give that as a gift? Either way, that weekend will be loads of fun!

Events! Events! Events! Have we got events coming at you!

As always, we have Friday Night Magic going on every, well, Friday. We start at 6:00 pm. And the foil promo card is Qasali Pridemage! Entry is still only $5.00.

Saturday night is our Saturday Booster Draft Tournament. Entry for this is $15.00, which covers your three boosters and prizes!

This Saturday, the 18th, we’ll be having a Magic the Gathering Peasant Tournament. Bring in your peasant deck (a deck of nothing but commons except you can use up to five uncommons) and play! Entry is only $3.00 and begins at 1:00 pm!

Next Saturday, we’ve got the prerelease of Scars of Mirrodin! We will starting registration at 11:30 and will promptly start at 1:00! This event always fills up, and we’re taking sign ups now! There is a $25 entry fee, but that covers the 6 boosters you will get and prizes! Not only are we going to be giving out the foil promo card of Wurmcoil Engine, but also other door prizes every round! Then at 6:00 pm, we’ll have our regular booster draft tournament using Scars of Mirrodin! That’s right, you can get more! What’s more, on Sunday, we’ll have a booster draft at 1:00 pm and if there are enough people, we’ll do it again at 6:00 pm! 4 Scars of Mirrodin events in one weekend!

If that isn’t enough, we’re going to be doing it all again for the Launch Party the weekend after that! Come on in and you can get the Steel Hellkite promo card!

Looks like Dungeons & Dragons Encounters Dark Sun has finally come to a close! But we’ll be starting up a new session next Wednesday! Come on in at 6:00 pm to join in on the fun at Keep on the Borderlands!

This Saturday, the Dead Gamers Society will be coming in and running their triple feature of Mage, Werewolf, and Hunter! This is their last session of it and will be starting the fall season of Vampire the Requiem!

Also, the Dead Gamers Society will be coming in on October the 24th for their RPG Rendezvous! This is always a huge event, and this time seems like it’s going to be big again! More details to come! But you don’t want to miss this full day of gaming fun!

On Sunday the 19th, Darren Shimisaki will be coming in to run a Warmachine Demo Day! If you’ve never played Warmachine and want to learn how, come on down at 1:00 pm! Or maybe you just want to get a game in with some new players! This is the event for you!

Magic the Gathering! You know we have Friday Night Magic and Saturday Night Booster Draft. So that’s not new, but what have we got coming up? Well, Magic Core Set 2011 is coming out soon! So that means we’ll have the pre-release here! This is next week folks! If you’re interested, we are taking sign ups now! And of course, pre-orders for M11 when it comes out on the 16th.

The Dead Gamers Society comes into the store twice a month to run other White Wolf games. Right now, the first Sunday of the month, Geist is run. And on the third Saturday of the month, they come in and run Vampire the Requiem. Although I believe that the Vampire game is over for the summer and they have started new season of Hunter, Werewolf, and Mage. But I’m sure their Facebook page can clarify that!

Speaking of the Dead Gamers Society, we had their Sci-Fi Day here this past Sunday and it was absolutely huge! Thank you to all those who participated! It was a great day for gaming!

The D&D Encounters game is still going strong! Dark Sun! That’s right! Dark Sun is coming back! If you want a sneak peek or a taste of it, come join in the Encounters game that goes on every Wednesday at 6:00pm. Participate each week in an encounter that’s part of an ongoing campaign, played out over the course of a few months. Plus you’ll earn “renown” points as you defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and complete quests – then get cool, exclusive rewards to use in your future D&D games. The more you play, the greater your renown. Dicehouse Games welcomes Jeff Poole as your Dungeon Master in the Dark Sun Encounters sessions. Each session will start at 6:00 pm and run about two hours every Wednesday night. If you’ve never played D&D before, that’s OK. Beginners are more than welcome. And you don’t need to bring your own character. One will be provided for you. We did get an update of some of the other games going to be run, and they are possibly Serenity, a Savage Worlds Aliens (from the movie), Cyberpunk 2020, and Shadowrun. I may have some of these wrong. But if you check out the Dead Gamers Society’s website, they will have everything up do date. These days are always packed and everyone has a great time.

As many of you know, Dicehouse Games is going to be celebrating our 2 year anniversary! So to celebrate, we’re going to have a charity event this coming weekend! Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be having various games and tournaments run. There’s a $5.00 entry fee for each game with $1.00 in game bonuses. On Sunday, we’ll be having a charity auction. We’ll be auctioning off different signed products and new games that were donated by several different companies. All money we raise will be going to the Red Cross. We figure with all of the earthquakes we’ve had lately, the Red Cross could use all the help they can get!

Well, it wouldn’t be a party without food! So Sunday we’ll be providing food like pizza, soda, and cake. In fact, on Sunday, we’ll be open until midnight! Why? Well, technically our anniversary is April 12th, which is a Monday this year, and we figure people will be too busy during the week to celebrate, so let’s just do it on the weekend!

Next order of business? We’re going to be having the Pre-Release for Magic: the Gathering: Rise of the Eldrazi on Saturday, April 17th and Sunday, April 18th. We’ve scheduled a sealed tournament for each day, and if time permits, a second side event (most likely a draft) later in the day. We are taking sign ups now since these events will fill up, especially on Saturday. So either come in or call to put your name on the list. (Please don’t post on Facebook that you would like to sign up since sometimes there’s a delay of postings getting to us.)
